In this tutorial we look at creating wind noise – a great signal that we’re high up or in an exposed place.

Mostly, sound designers try to avoid this sound because it creates interference when capturing dialogue and effects. Used well, wind noise can help create a sense of space and scale.

We make our own sounds using a phone or other mic, import them into UE4, and create a Sound Cue and Blueprint. We look at asset placement in a scene from Epic’s Infinity Blade: Grass Lands pack. Custom music by Valkyrie Sound
